Etcetera #10: Hurricanes, DREAMers, And The End Of The World

One thing's for sure: there has been no shortage of topics in the past several weeks. In this episode, we address several that have dominated the headlines:

  • President Trump's rescinding of President Obama's executive order concerning DACA. What is DACA? Why did President Obama implement it? Why did President Trump do away with it while simultaneously asking Congress to re-implement it?
  • The recent hurricanes Harvey and Irma. Hundreds of headlines demanded that we make a connection between global warming and the hurricanes, but is that connection warranted? Is correlation really causation?
  • Parts of the Christian community have been in the news for a) making some bold claims about the hurricanes being a judgment from God, and b) predicting that September 23 would be the end of the world.  If you are reading this, you know 9/23 passed without incident. As for the hurricanes, are Christians doing justice to the Bible when they claim God is speaking to us rather sharply through the weather?

You can listen to our podcast on Soundcloud. As always, we encourage you to weigh in on these topics either here in the comments section or on our Facebook page. Our goal is truth, and we welcome you to join us in our pursuit.
